A judgment is paper until it is collected.
Turnover orders, post-judgment receivers, garnishment, injunctions against moving assets, and taking a Texas judgment into another state. We collect our own judgments and other lawyers’ — and we defend against pre-judgment remedies that were never properly obtained.
What we handle
- Post-judgment discovery and asset investigation
- Turnover orders and receivers under Tex. Civ. Prac. & Rem. Code § 31.002
- Garnishment and execution
- Injunctions against dissipating assets
- Domesticating and enforcing judgments in other states
- Dissolving improper pre-judgment writs under Rule 664a
How we approach it
Collection starts before judgment, with knowing where the money is. After judgment in Murphy v. Liberty Hill Construction, when the judgment debtors began dissipating the estate, the court entered a turnover order, an injunction and a post-judgment receiver.
For United Biologics we recovered $3 million across forty cases, including domesticating a Texas judgment and enforcing it in Lafayette Parish, Louisiana.

Questions people ask
I have a judgment and the debtor won’t pay. What can a court do?
Texas courts can order a debtor to turn over non-exempt property, appoint a receiver to take and sell it, garnish bank accounts, and enjoin transfers. Which tools fit depends on what the debtor owns and where.
Can you collect a judgment another lawyer obtained?
Yes. We regularly take on collection of judgments we did not try.
The debtor moved out of Texas. Is the judgment worthless?
No. A Texas judgment can be domesticated and enforced in another state. We have done it in Louisiana.
